I would like to thank Giorgia Hofer for sharing this wonderful image of comet C/2014 Q2 (Lovejoy) from January 20, 2015 when the comet was about 10 days before perihelion. An ion tail that is 10+ degrees long in the sky is an exceptional thing to image. As I understand it, the solar wind must have been steady for several days for the ion tail to extend that far.

Thanks a lot to everyone. Yes Charles Bell, Comet Lovejoy was truly exceptional, she passed close to so many celestial objects, like the Pleiades, and gave us great emotions. The clean sky from which I took the scene, helped me a lot
