Description

Comet ISON (C/2012 S1) appears in the morning twilight, on its way to the Sun, only 4 days before reaching within a solar diameter of the Sun’s surface (on 2013 Nov. 28). This was the last morning that the TWAN photographer managed to capture a clear view of the comet before it sinks to the solar glare. This unusual sungrazer comet is captured here with a telephoto lens as it is rising over Gran Canaria Island, photographed from the Teide Observatory on Tenerife.

Thank you for sharing this as it is likely the last photo of the comet from Earth.
