Description

The 6-year Jokin is trying to catch comet PanSTARRS (C/2011 L4) in this evening twilight view from Catalonia, Spain. The wandering icy body passed closest to the Earth on 2013 March 5 at a distance of over 300 million kilometers, nearly a thousand times further away than the moon. This challenging telephoto image made by the TWAN photographer and his son (50 meters away from the camera) is a result of focus stacking technique where two (or more) consecutive photos are used, one focused on the foreground and the other on the background sky.
