The Institute had the first observatory on the roof, by the outskirts of the city Jena. The “first light” was 200 Years ago, in the house where Schiller lived before. Since Jena grew a lot in the past 200 years, the big dipper has to fight his way through the light pollution in Jena, the City of light”
