Big Dipper and City Lights

In search of dark sky, the photographer took an evening road trip. After driving the winding road up Uludag, a 2500-meter high mountain near Bursa, Turkey, he was rewarded with this view of the Big Dipper above the lights of Bursa. Uludag’s elevation makes it possible to see the town of Gemlik, 30 km to the north, by the coast of Marmara Sea. In rare clear conditions even Istanbul, 100 km to the north, can be seen.
