In a starry night of Himalayas the Beehive Star Cluster (M44) in the constellation Cancer rises above Ama Dablam (6812 meters); one of the most scenic mountains of Himalaya and of the most difficult to climb. Located in the World Heritage Sagarmatha National Park, Ama Dablam means “Mother’s neclace”; the long ridges on each side like the arms of a mother (ama) protecting her child, and the hanging glacier thought of as the dablam, the traditional double-pendant containing pictures of the gods, worn by Sherpa women. For several days, Ama Dablam dominates the eastern sky for anyone trekking to Mount Everest base camp.

    Yes that’s because of the setting moon on the other horizon illuminating the higher altitude mountain.
