Description

From the photographer: “This was actually the first shot I took of the aurora storm on May 10th. I was actually asleep, thinking the skies were cloudy. My mother woke me up at 10pm to tell me the skies had cleared! We drove to the Ashokan Reservoir, where there were a ton of people. On our way across the aqueduct, I noticed a huge, bright pillar over High Point and the western Catskill mountains. We pulled over and I snapped this single photograph in what would be a massive night for me and many other astrophotography enthusiasts around the world.”
