Description

From the photographer: “Around the equinox, a mysterious phenomenon called Zodiacal Light can be seen. Though I live next to the Ashokan Reservoir with excellent dark skies, I have never personally seen it. I knew I would have the potential last night so I went out.

I got an alert on my phone, there could be Aurora too. I met a few people who came up from New Jersey and Long Island to see the Aurora on the promenade. As darkness fell, the Aurora was visible only to cameras. I shifted my focus West to start a panorama. I captured Zodiacal Light, in its triangular form, over the Western Catskill Mountains. As I turned North the Aurora and Milkyway entered the frame. This is the first time I have seen the Zodiacal Light with my naked eye.”
