Description

Captured about 100 meters above Asaluyeh coast in southern Iran, I was looking at the Persian Gulf at night. Generally high humidity and dust on the shores cause a lot of skyglow and diffuse the sky, but in some seasons when the temperature decreases, mild winds sweep away dust and you can experience wonderful sky. But to me the most important element in this view was the light pollution of oil rigs and oil processing facilities scattered by dust and humidity. The orange glow in the center is Lavan island, a prominent oil refinery center and a major terminal for export of crude oil. In the sky you can see the zodiacal light in the right, constellation Orion and most of the winter stars near the center.
