Description

From the photographer: “Ever been on another planet?! Well, this is where I thought I was when I took this picture on the Chilean Altiplano, North of Chile in the Atacama region. Imagine a pure mineral place with no apparent life and absolute silence, a colorful place with quiet salt lakes and active volcanoes, a place where the sky seems to touch the ground, where the rare oxygen is the only reminder that you are not on IO, one of Jupiter’s Moon … The beauty of this starry landscape definitively makes you forget the cold and the 5000m altitude.”

Wow that picture’s sky looks like daytime, the sky is blue but filled with stars! I wonder if the reason is because the sun was just about to rise or had just set, hence the blueness and how faint the Milky Way looks in that picture, resembling a suburban sky rather than s dark sky location.

These are all because of strong moonlight.
