Annapurna Sky

This 21-shot mosaic was captured from Pokhara, Nepal, featuring a magnificent view of the 7,000–8,000-meter peaks of the Annapurna Massif. On the right, the lights of Pokhara are visible. Thanks to the exceptional atmospheric seeing, dark skies, and the use of an astro-modified camera, several nebulae can be seen along the Milky Way, including the California Nebula, the Flaming Star Nebula, the Heart and Soul Nebulae, and the Orion Nebula. The red glow on the left is caused by airglow in Earth’s upper atmosphere.
