Description

The night sky over the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, USA. The bright summer Milky Way appears on the left in Scorpius and Sagittarius, over the light of the nearby town Jackson Hole (towards south). In the middle is the bright star Arcturus and on the right is the Big Dipper (the prominent figure in Ursa Major) towards the north. The green bands are airglow; natural emission of the Earth upper atmosphere. The Teton Range is a part of the Rocky Mountains. The Grand Teton, the tallest mountain in the range, is 13,775 feet (4,199 m) high. Click on the second photo to see the photographer’s “galactic” self-portrait with the Tetons.
