A Celestial River Over Sicilian Waters
Description
From the photographer: “In the silent depths of the Sicilian night, the Salso River flows as a reminder of the winter that, surprisingly, has spared the island’s countryside from aridity, giving it new life even before the arrival of summer. Its waters insinuate themselves between ancient rocks, smoothed by time, and golden hills, barely reflecting the soft light of the stars. But a second river unfolds above the scene: this time it is not particles of water that flow, but stars, which trace a majestic celestial torrent — the Milky Way. A few veils cross the sky, not to hide the stars, but to enhance their charm, giving depth and three-dimensionality to the nocturnal landscape.
The great rock, wrapped by the river’s course, is a silent observer of this suggestion. Sculpted by the wind, water and time, it seems to guard ancient memories, an immobile witness to the passing of the ages. This photograph is not only intended to be a tribute to the rugged and authentic beauty of the Sicilian countryside, but also a reflection on the hidden harmony between the elements: water, rock and stars. An invitation to stop, to listen, to let yourself be guided by the river and the sky to discover one of the most unique places on this earth and at the same time still to be discovered. An invitation to discover the hidden nature and the charm of the universe.”
