Photo Report: The World at Night in Thailand


In June 2009 The World at Night arrived in Thailand with a major exhibition in the National Science Museum near Bangkok. Located in Khlong Luang district, it is also known as Queen Sirikit the Great Science Museum. The center is the leading science museum in the country. TWAN exhibition opened on June 12 by Dr. Khunying Kalaya Sophonpanich, the Minister of Science and Technology. A TWAN night sky photography workshop (13-14 June 2009) accompanied the exhibition and presented by the invited TWAN member Oshin Zakarian and Thai astrophotographers. The practical session of the workshop held in Ayutthaya, a stunning World Heritage complex of temples. The main organizer of TWAN-IYA2009 exhibitions in Thailand is the National Astronomical Research (NARIT), and it is coordinated by the institute’s director Dr. Boonrucksar Soonthornthum.
