World of Telescopes
Description
A starry night of Mauna Kea, one of the best known observing sites on the planet located at the top of Hawaii. The mountain host some of world’s largest observatories. The domes from left to right are the 8-meter Subaru Telescope, 10-meter Keck Twin Telescopes, 3-meter NASA Infrared Telescope,
3.6-meter Canadian-France Telescope, and 8-meter Gemini North Telescope. Notable in the sky are the rising stars of Big Dipper above the Gemini dome, the Andromeda Galaxy at left side of the Milky Way band, and the Pleiades star cluster at top left. The faint large glow at left is the zodiacal light.
