Description

It was breathtaking when ribbons of fast moving northern lights were breaking into the clear sky above a restored remote Viking village. Several people in my last Aurora PhotoTour regarded this night as one of the most memorable in their life. We felt an incredible connection to the history and culture of this far north. This where some of the earliest Nordic settlers lived in Iceland, a thousand years ago. They were unaware that the nearby snow-capped mountain is an active volcano. In 1104 a massive eruption ended the life of this farming village. The replica of turf houses are constructed near the original place based on the archeological findings.⁣
