Description

Planets Venus (the brightest) and Mars (closely above Venus) meet with Pleiades, the Seven Sister star cluster, as seen from Kartal Lake Nature Reserve in Sandras Mountain. Sandras lies about 120 km south of Denizli, Turkey; close to the small town of Beyagac. The mountain rises 2294 meters above sea level. Sandras has a monument forest of black pines, with the trees 1000 years old on the average and as much as 1300 years. The forest is partly the reason why the area is declared as a natural reserve. The rest of the reason is Kartal Lake. The lake is glacial in origin and spans an area of about 10 hectares. Its elevation above sea level is about 1950 meters.
