Venus and the Sisters
Description
In the evening sky of southeastern Spain seashores, near Cartagena, planet Venus is photographed against the Pleiades star cluster in a rare close conjunction. The telephoto image shows all the notable stars of Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters. Even the brightest “sisters” are over a thousand times fainter than Venus, our planetary neighbor. Click on the second photo to view this scene one night earlier with a wider angle view were planet Jupiter is also captured near the horizon.
