Description

From the photographer: “This is how the Tsuchinshan-Atlas looks on October 14th 2024, through the camera lens. Compared to yesterday, the tail seems longer, so much so that it’s very visible even with a standard focal length like 35mm. It’s also worth noting that the comet’s antitail appears more pronounced than it did yesterday. But what is the antitail? The antitail is an optical feature that shows a tail in the opposite direction of the main tail. It appears only for short periods and at certain angles when the Earth, Sun, and comet are aligned in such a way that we see these particles almost from the side, creating the illusion of a tail pointing toward the Sun. Each day, this comet reveals new peculiarities and is truly living up to the expectations of sky lovers.
