The Whomping Willow
Description
From the photographer: “Shot at the famous Pangong Tso, Ladakh. I visited Ladakh in May, 2025, and this was or 3rd location for shooting Astro Landscape Images. After reaching Pangong, we scouted the location and identified few frames. One of my photographer friend identified this tree as “Whomping Willow” from Harry Potter. The waterbody behind the tree is the Pangong Lake.
Pangong Lake, situated at a height of almost 4,350m, is the world’s highest saltwater lake. Its water, which seems to be dyed in blue, stand in stark contrast to the arid mountains surrounding it. Extending to almost 160km, one-third of the Pangong Lake lies in India and the other two-thirds in China.”
