Description

From the photographer: “The aurora storm of May 10th and May 11th was forecasted to continue through Sunday night on May 12th. While the Ashokan Reservoir Promenade is my primary location for astrophotography, this past year I did learn of a private fire tower in Hurley, NY with incredible views of the mountains. I met a man named Barry, who introduced me to this 50ft firetower that he repurposed and built in his back yard. The photographs I’ve included are from the tower, along the tops of the surrounding trees. The aurora appeared around 11pm and was only visible to cameras. The crescent moon was in the western sky and helped illuminate the foreground.”
