The Signal
Description
A Notable Photo of the 2014 International Earth & Sky Photo Contest.
From the photographer: “A small shooting star is captured near the Yaquina Head Lighthouse on a winter night. The lighthouse was first lit in 1873 and has aided ships along this section of coast, often nicknamed The Graveyard of the Pacific, ever since. Generally Oregon’s coast is endlessly cloudy, and getting clear nights, particularly in the winter, is really difficult. Part of the Milky Way can be seen to the right of the lighthouse.”
