The Breath of Spring

As the spring proceeds in Japan, this group of skunk-cabbage bloom flowers under the splendid view of the Milky Way. Breaking or tearing a leaf of the cabbage produces a pungent odor. This property lends itself to the ‘skunk’ in the common name.
