Description

As the Earth rotates during this hour-long exposure stars circle around the north celestial pole above Lauterbrunnen valley in Switzerland. The morning twilight has painted the sky in deep blue. Click on the second photo to see a short 20-second exposure of this view that captured Ursa Major (the Big Bear) on the left and the W figure of Cassiopeia on the right. Find the North Star or Polaris, between them. The village of Lauterbrunnen is nestled between the towering walls of this Alpine valley and it is famed for its many waterfalls. © Babak Tafreshi
