Description

The Earth rotation, constantly moving stars in the night sky, has caused star trails in this long-exposure image from a high altitude lake in Sierra Nevada. The scattered light on the water shows more of star colors, compared to their sharp trails in the sky. The bright orange trail is Antares, a red supergiant star in the heart of the celestial scorpion. The one-hour total exposure is made from a timelapse sequence.
