Sentinel Hoodoo
Description
From the photographer: “These mystical rock formations, including the hoodoo in the foreground, were carved by the Milk River from 85 million year old sandstone. First Nations people view this as a sacred landscape. Indeed, this valley contains the largest concentration of First Nation petroglyphs (rock carvings) and pictographs (rock paintings) on the great plains of North America. Winding through the prairie grasslands, this valley is protected as the Áísínai’pi National Historic Site, also called Writing on Stone Provincial Park.”
