Description

A long exposure photo sequence has captured the rotating sky in form of star trails. Also notable are the planes crossing the sky and boats sailing in the Saar River of Germany. Light pollution from nearby towns and power plants dominates the horizon, similar to many other places in the developed world today. In the foreground is the well-known Saar Loop (Saarschleife) near the town of Mettlach. Saar is a river in northeastern France and western Germany. Added by the photographer: “world-famous for its ceramics production, Mettlach is also home to Saarschleife, a well-known river bend and one of the main attractions of the Saarland region. The view over the Saar Loop is unique specially in spring and autumn if the fog is coming in the Saar valley. Unfortunately the light pollution in the region is growing up very fast.”
