Planets and Moon Align Above Kilimanjaro

Four planets Saturn, Mars, Venus, and Mercury and bright star Regulus are photographed along the ecliptic while the Moon is in conjunction with Venus. Move the slider on the image to recognize the planets with labels. The photo is taken from an altitude of about 3800 meters on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and the snow-covered summit of Kibo (5893) is visible on the lower right. Mt. Kilimanjaro is an inactive volcano and the highest mountain in Africa located near the northern border of Tanzania with Kenya.
