The galactic bulge in Scorpius and Sagittarius (left), the Southern Cross and bright stars Alpha and Beta Centauri at the horizon (right) are photographed over the coast of the Pacific Ocean, as seen from Cabo San Lucas at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, Mexico. The Welk Resort appears on the left. From this low-northern latitude of about 23 degrees these prominent icons of the southern sky rise a few degrees above the southern horizon.
