Milky Way Rises above Caribbean Sea

From the photographer: “Can you believe that in the balcony of a hotel in the Caribbean, you can see such a magnificent view of the Galaxy? This photo was taken in Mexico on February 3th, 2017, before sunrise. The location is the Azulik hotel in Tulum. The hotel’s balcony looks towards the east. Here is the blue Caribbean. Because there is no light pollution nearby, you can clearly see stars at the horizon as the Milky Way slowly rising, while the bright Saturn appears almost in the center of the galaxy. At this time, the dawn has illuminated the eastern horizon.
