Meteor and Alpha Centauri
Description
Starry sky and a streaking meteor above the bright stars Alpha and Beta Centauri, as seen from a 2800-meter high climbing camp on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The brighter of the two notable stars in this image is Alpha Centauri. It’s the closest star system to the Sun at 4.37 light years away, still more than 40 million million kilometers away while the meteor above it is made by a tiny meteoroid entering the Earth atmosphere only 100km above us!
