Magellanic Clouds from Atacama

The southern Milky Way and Large and Small Magellanic Clouds (satellite galaxies of the Milky Way) shines above a cactus in Atacama Desert; a narrow strip of desert along the northwest coast of Chile, extends nearly 1600 km. Atacama is one of the driest places on Earth. In many areas rainfall has never been recorded. Consequently, an extremely arid, almost barren, landscape predominates. However cacti (Eulychnia) and few other species survive in basins where occasional water accumulation occurs. As noted by the photographer “In Atacama Desert cactus is the second main thing you can find after telescopes !”.
