Description

An Astronomy Picture Of the Day. From the photographer: “The transit of the ISS over the moon, in a particularly minimalist and peaceful composition. The 400km trip from home was worth it, in order to take advantage of perfectly clear weather at the time of the astronomical phenomenon. This gap in the clouds had been planned and spotted for a few days and for once, the weather models were not at all mistaken.

This scene takes place on the tallest sand dune of Europe, Dunes of Pilat (more than 100m above sea level.

At 5:47 a.m., the International Space Station emerged from the darkness from the West before passing over the moon in the form of a very flat arch, which gives the whole thing a fairly minimalist aesthetic rendering and a small science-fiction flavor.”
