Description

Gobustan has been a human settlement since the last ice age. From the photographer: “The World Heritage Site has many rock engravings dating back to 5000 to 40000 years. From the top of the rocky hill housing the prehistoric settlements, the view to the west is generally dark. The plains to the west are home of some mud volcanoes. The hill in the foreground could be one of the biggest of them, rising about 300 meters over the plains. The Moon and Venus are in close conjunction over the mud volcano and Jupiter shines higher above.
