Description

From the photographer: “During the annual star party held at Topuklu pasture in Mt. Sandras, I went to Lake Kartal at dawn on 12th July 2024, as I had done in 2009 and 2022. Jupiter is blazes about 5 degrees north of Aldebaran, whose light is also reflected from the lake, which is smaller than normal because of a dry winter. Mars is present in the east, as it was in 2009 and 2022, shining near Pleiades.

This was also the first night I photographed Mars and Uranus near Pleiades using a telephoto lens, which I continued for 15 more nights. I put together the pictures to show the motion of both planets, as can be seen on Astronomy Picture Of the Day.”
