In the Dark Seek a Light

From the photographer: “Most powerful telescopes today are built under the darkest world’s sky. But in the past, it wasn’t that necessary to go so further away. In the location of the former Royal Greenwich Observatory in Sussex England, there stood the Isaac Newton Telescope. Inaugurated in 1967 by Queen Elizabeth II. As the light pollution extended over among the world, a lot of scientific places have lost their potential. To catch most weaker photons from the universe, any light source is an obstacle. Now, on La Palma island, from 1979 Isaac Newton Telescope plays its role in a world of science again. Thanks to the governmental restrictions, La Palma still dispose of the naturally dark night sky. At an altitude of about 2.400m, a 100″ diameter optical telescope works at night. Is this place the last station of this “Englishman”? Depends on us…”
