Description

From the photographer: “The last fine picture of comet Leonard (C/2021 A1) that I was able to capture (before the comet heads to the southern sky) was on December 22nd from the summit of Mare de Déu del Mont. At the top of this mountain (1,150 m), there is a sanctuary where Catalan poet Jacint Verdaguer stayed and wrote famous verses. The comet was less than 4º from the horizon, in very difficult observing conditions, since it only had a brief interval of time just after twilight and before its setting on the hazy horizon. In the photo you can faintly but clearly see the long tail of the comet, which extends several degrees in the antisolar direction.”
