The southern hemisphere view of the Milky Way is not only more spectacular it also better illustrate a galaxy, our cosmic home. With the bright central bulge of the Milky Way rising to overhead the plane of an edge-on spiral galaxy can be easily imagined. This panorama, spanning more than 200 degrees, is a result of 11 frames stitched together, photographed from Kiripotib Astrofarm (a stargazing hotel) in Namibia.
