From Alaska to Sweden
Description
Volcanic ash from the eruption of Kasatochi volcano, in Aleutian Islands of southwestern Alaska, made this colorful sunset in Sweden. On August 7, 2008, Kasatochi began erupting explosively. The stratospheric ash cloud circumnavigated the northern hemisphere and made dusty horizon and exceptional sunrise and sunsets all the way to Europe, even several weeks after the eruption. During the period subtle pink waves, dramatic purple rays and campfire-red horizons were occasionally visible when the sun was rising or setting.
