Description

From the photographer: “Back in November 2013, bright Venus (now visible as a morning star) was positioned almost against the center of the Milky Way. Capturing the whole scene from Red Chilli Rest Camp, I was accompanied by numerous fireflies – the green lights similar to meteors. The same situation of Venus located this way occurs once per 8 years. Another thing to look forward to!

Great opportunity to see the amazing Milky Way from Red Chilli Rest Camp (Uganda) thanks to Crammy Wanyama from Uganda Tours and Safaris. The bright bluish shining object is planet Venus. Thanks to weak light pollution Uganda offers a dark sky. The Venus was so bright I could easily see my shadow in the grass behind me. Above the roof of the closest hut, you can see a crowd of birds. It’s a crowd of Marabu Stork, which are huge. Just in a calm position, its height is like a smaller human being.”
