Description

Time-lapse video: The very dark total lunar eclipse of 15 June 2011 was a spectacular sight. The red eclipsed moon was against the summer Milky Way as captured in this wide-angle view. The total eclipse lasted 100 minutes. When the full moon comes out from the Earth umbral shadow the Milky Way and dark starry sky are washed away by bright moonlight. See the red eclipsed moon and the Milky Way in a still image of this sequence.

I watched it several times … The change in the sky when the moon reappears was so unexpected. Great job!
