Description

Night sky over Mount Damavand; the highest peak in the Middle East, a spectacular volcano that reaches 5610 meters high. The highest volcano in Asia, its located in the Alborz Mountain Range of Iran close to the capital Tehran. Damavand volcano is considered alive although it has been dormant for many thousands of years. Click on the second photo to see a wide angle panoramic photo of this scene where On bright star Deneb in Cygnus is visible on the right. On the left is the light dome of Tehran about 70 km away. On the bottom is the light of passing cars in the Haraz valley; a main route between Tehran and the Caspian Sea.
