Description

A chilly winter night at Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California. This park offers a unique desert landscape featuring the famous Joshua Tree (Yucca brevifolia), a species of the Yucca tree and native to the dry desert of the Southwestern United States. The indigenous Cauhilla peoples of this region have utilized the Yucca tree for generations, as a natural resource for weaving baskets and as a food source.

The Big Dipper constellation can be seen to the northwest of the largest tree in the foreground.
