Description

From the photographer: “The southern stars appear above Cradle Mountain, Tasmania, and starlight is reflected in the mirror calm Dove Lake, as a bright (-2 magnitude) meteor suddenly appears near the “Two Pointers”, Alpha and Beta Centauri. A faint aurora (southern lights) provides a soft pinkish glow behind Cradle Mountain. This World Heritage area provides impressively dark skies to enjoy the spectacle of the southern skies.”
