Description

Comet NEOWISE is rising over the scenic red rock formations of the Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada. The image was featured by TIME Magazine in “The Year in Review”, published in December 2020 for special events of the year (see the second image). This Comet was the brightest in the northern hemisphere in 23 years, since Comet Hale-Bopp in 1997 that became the comet of the century. My image of that comet was also featured in TIME’s Annual in 1997. Incidentally the Valley of Fire was the location of my two other TIME & LIFE Magazine Annual Edition images of the famous close encounter of Mars and Earth in 2003.

Taken with Nikon D750 camera, 85mm nikon lens with 8 second exposure at iso 1600 at f/2.
