Description

From the photographer: “One of the largest noctilucent cloud displays ever recorded occurred on the night of 14 July 2009. These clouds are 80 km above the Earth’s surface and still sunlit ninety minutes after sunset as viewed from ground level. We do not know much about these clouds, but they are most prominent around the summer solstice during minimum of solar activity.” – Robert Slobins
