Description

The prominent figure of the Big Dipper (an asterism in the constellation Ursa Major or the Big Bear) stands above ruins of a castle not far from Stockholm, Sweden. Note the bright star Arcturus (the alpha star in Bootes) through the trees. Just above the middle tree note the diffuse constellation Coma Berenices which host Mel 111 or the Coma Star Cluster, the largest open cluster – in apparent size – in our night sky. It is about 6 degrees across and is easily resolvable by unaided-eye.
