Description

This timely image from the southeastern shore of Australia in Victoria has captured a sudden red burst of aurora australis, the green cast of airglow (natural emission of the Earth upper atmosphere), our neighboring satellite the Small Magellanic Cloud, and comet Lemmon Lemmon (C/2012 F6) while approaching the sun. Find the comet with its faint thin tail and the green coma at the upper middle of the image.
