Milky Way over the VLTs
Description
From the photographer: “This is a panoramic image of the Very Large Telescopes (VLTs) and the Milky Way, which ‘connects’ the two telescopes. The left telescope is the UT4, which is equipped with a laser guide star facility. The right one – UT3, hosts the Visible MultiObject Spectrograph (VIMOS), which is measuring the distances to hundreds of galaxies. The Magellanic Clouds are visible close the center of the image.”
