Lunar Eclipse from Mauna Kea
Description
From the photographer: “The Full Moon is seen setting at sunrise, seen from Mauna Kea Observatory, Hawaii. On the left is the shadow of Mauna Kea on the Earth’s atmosphere. Immediately above the shadow is the Moon. The photo was taken immediately after a total lunar eclipse, and it is clear that part of the Moon is still inside the Earth’s shadow. The two telescope domes on the right house the twin Keck telescopes, and the enclosure at the center houses the Subaru telescope.”
